Showing Gratitude

Showing those close to you that you care may be something that isn't something you normally think about. "I am with them every day! They know I care!" But what if they don't? What if essential people in your life don't know that you care? This could be your family, your friends, your direct reports, your team, and many others. I am sure that a name or two have already come to mind. No worries! Here are 3 easy ways you can let them know you are grateful for them to get you started.

  1. Send a quick text.

This sounds so simple, but it isn't something we do often. If you think about someone, stop what you are doing in that moment and share with them how grateful you are for them. It could even be something like "I'm grateful for you." or "Thank you for all that you do." People simply want to be appreciated and an unexpected text goes a long way. You can even add a little extra by adding on a virtual gift card to cover a coffee for the day, a fun gif that will make them laugh, or an emoji to keep it casual.

2. Pick up a card and send it in the mail.

"Snail mail" is not dead! According to the Greeting Card Association, billions of greeting cards are purchased each year in the United States alone. Receiving something in the mail can feel extremely intentional. It took time to choose a card, write in the card, and send it. To add some flare to this one, throw a candy in there with your card or maybe make a card on your own! A pro tip I use all the time is placing "send 5 cards" on my calendar each week to make sure I have it planned to care for others well.

3. Do for one what you wish you could do for all

Anything you do to show gratitude is worth it. It may seem small only choosing one person a week at first, but it goes a long way! There are places that make it easy to care for others such as:

Spoonful of Comfort

Crumbl Cookies

Sherry's Berries

Instacart

There are so many benefits to showing gratitude such as Improved Mental Health, Stress Reduction, Workplace Impact and so much more.

Let's all go start a trend showing people how thankful we are, simply for being.
